Paralympic Games Cardiovascular Health Clinic

During the Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 Paralympic Games Dr. Krassioukov and members of his laboratory successfully set up and operated a Cardiovascular Health Education Clinic for Paralympic athletes supported by International Paralympics Committee. The project was funded by both the Craig Neilsen Foundation and ICORD. During the games the clinic was visited by more than 100 paralympic athletes, their care givers, team physicians, registered nurses and physical therapists from all around the world. The main goal of the clinic was to educate athletes and members of their support team on various cardiovascular and autonomic dysfunctions that individuals with spinal cord injury may experience during the training and competition.
